NZ's First Split Boarding Festival 17 -18 September

 
Shane Orchard prepares his snowboard for "split boarding" - the creation of two skis to which skins can be fitted for cross country travel. When it is time for a run, join together and snowboard home. Equipment demonstrations, instruction and lots of fun to be had at this Festival. For more information see our main page.

Speed Flying Week 11-17 September

 
Laszlo Csizmadia and his company, Air Action Sports, are hosting a speed flying week at Temple Basin in September. Participants need to have had some speed flying, skydiving or paragliding experience. For the rest of us, it will be a good time to come to Temple Basin to watch and take pics. This shot shows a parapent landing on Cassidy Tow with the accommodation lodges in the background. It was taken last weekend.

This is what 70cms of new powder on top of our 1.6m base looks like at our front door. We expect SH73 to reopen during today and then the fun begins...can you imagine what the night skiing will be like? Wow
